What do we do?

Carers Hub Rochdale provides a Sitting-In Service, a respite and befriending service that is entirely led by Volunteers from all ages and backgrounds. Volunteers allow Carers a much-needed break from their caring role so they can do something for themselves.

Volunteers spend an agreed amount of time at the home of a Carer/Cared-for person weekly. Volunteers spend time with the Cared-for person, chatting, going for a walk, playing board games or watching TV.  This allows the unpaid Carer an opportunity for a break and a chance to do something for themselves, knowing their loved one is in good hands.

Carers Hub Rochdale also provides a CHAT Line which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – offering a listening ear and emotional support to Carers calling the helpline which is led by Volunteers.

What will I get out of it?

You will make a difference to a Carer’s life by offering respite and this can be hugely rewarding. Often volunteers build meaningful relationships with both the Carer and Cared-for, strengthening ties in the local community.
