Oldham School of Nursing Archive Site.

Introduction and welcome.

First:- Anyone seeking information about nursing studies etc please be aware that this site has no connection to the University of Salford. However, the following link might be useful.

https://www.salford.ac.uk/courses/undergraduate/nursing-rn-adult

The site acknowledges the contribution made to the profession by the Oldham School of Nursing.

Geoff Smith ex Tutor/Lecturer from the Oldham School of Nursing would welcome historical contributions from anyone in connection with the original school before it amalgamated with Bury and Rochdale Schools.

Amalgamation.

In 1988, Oldham first amalgamated with the Bury and Rochdale Schools of nursing to become the West Pennine College of Health (WPCH). However, the training programmes for the newly established College did not commence until 1991. In 1994 a further amalgamation took place with Bolton and Salford Schools to become the Northern College and the final merger in 1996 was with the University of Salford.

Records.

In September of 1999 old records from the Oldham School of Nursing were taken to the Oldham Local Interest and Archive Centre. More recent information from after the amalgamation with Bury, Rochdale, Bolton and Salford were transferred to the University of Salford, Eccles campus. Telephone 0845 234 0184.

NB. This site is not connected in anyway to the School of Nursing at the University of Salford. Any enquiries about taking up nursing as a career etc should be be made directly to the University. Thankyou.

Transcripts.

In response to ex students asking where transcripts for working abroad can be obtained. It would appear that the Nursing Midwifery Council are unable to provide them. However, the following link may be of assistance.
