Intro

Rochdale Connections Trust (RCT) provides:
• One to one mentoring.
• Drop in facilities to promote socialisation
• Help with building confidence and raising self esteem
• Steering young people away from offending behaviour
• Support with problems at home, (domestic violence, parents using drugs or excessive alcohol, neglect, social isolation, not getting along with parent’s new partner etc).
• Support for parents including addressing the issues/barriers to work.
• Freedom course which is aimed at women to prepare them to identify potential abusive relationships.

Some of our various projects have include:
• A Young Runaways project (funded through the BBC Children in Need until Jan 13) this projects work closely with the Police, RMBC Children Missing education, Connexions and Rochdale’s sexual exploitation unit. A steering group was established to oversee progress against the objectives for this project. We work with young people who go missing from home or those who are at risk of running away and deal with the issues around risky behaviour, consequential thinking, etc.
• ESF Family Support programme, working with parents and young people, offering one to one mentoring and a range of courses to help improve self confidence, skills in communication, parenting, budgeting, IT etc. We hold a regular coffee morning where parents can come together and socialise, family quiz nights and outdoor activities

• Targeted Youth Support,  We provided one to one mentoring and after school activities (drop ins) so that young people can develop their social skills and address the difficulties they face.
