March 2020 Club Meeting Notes

Neil Wharmby presented his extensive collection of GB stamp booklet covers beginning from when the Post Office began issuing booklets in 1904. In 1968 they started producing pictorial covers in variable set sizes but mainly in 4 designs. A wide variety of subjects were covered from pillar boxes to pond life and canals to cricket.

In the second half David Hudson treated us to his collection of GB commemorative stamps in cylinder blocks. He explained the time line of multiple colour printing, the logic of stamp denominations and the progressive introduction of thematic subjects.

Next month’s meeting will be members presentations. New people are always welcome at our meetings which are held at the Rochdale Unitarian Church on the second Tuesday of each month at 7.30 pm, or alternatively telephone Neil on 01706 665698. or email
