The club’s annual competition night commenced with a display of salvaged air mail letters that had been in commercial aircraft that had crashed. Letters from planes carried by Imperial Airways and BOAC were shown.

A display of “Postmans Chops”” from Malta was the 2nd entry. These were personalised rubber hand stamps applied to cards and letters delivered by postmen on Malta. Each postman had his own number, the same number as displayed on his uniform, and were used from th elate 1800's to the 1940's

The 3rd entry consisted of covers and stamps relating to the Winter Olympic Games held in 1992 in Albertville ,France.

The 4th entry was a display of coin covers and stamps and special commemorative coin sets.

The competition was won by Jack Lindley with his “Crash Covers”.

Next month’s meeting will be a display entitled “My Egypt III by Ken Knight.
