Newport Regional Tournament held in January
The Northpoles, the under 14s team made up of 6 Rochdale players and 2 Batley players came 4th overall. Rochdale players were Ethan Redmond, Rebecca Northover, Isaac Rhodes-Dawson, Harry Tait, Tiegan Alexander and Alfie Durkin.
Zach Tait played for the North Under 16s team and was rewarded with a silver medal.
Megan Walsh and Jacob Redmond played for the North Under 12s and they achieved 4th place narrowly missing out on a bronze medal.
All played well and had a good time. The standard of pay at these competitions just keeps getting better and better.
Batley Under 14’s Tournament- 14th February
We have 6 players taking part and they will be joined by 2 from either Batley or Sheffield. There are 6 teams competing from Batley x2, Pembroke, Xarifa, Rochdale, TSW.
Regional Training
There has recently been discussion amongst the coaches of the North Region teams about improving the standard of the Regional teams that attend the Regional Tournaments. Realistically this means more pool time is needed and the opportunity to play with and against players from the other clubs in the Region.
Initially the additional training will be aimed specifically at the Under 14s and Under 12s age groups. At Under 16 age group it is considered that most are already attending adult sessions and getting more pool time and training anyway.
The Batley pool is available on Saturday afternoons 3:00pm to 5:00pm. It is not confirmed yet, but the initial plan is to have one session per month, with the first one on the 21st March, please put this date in your diaries. This would be for Under 14s and Under 12s.
National Championships
The venue for this year’s championships is Plymouth and the date is 11th July 2:30 to 8:00pm. Could I please ask you to give me an answer on this one. Either yes, no or maybe, this will give us an idea of whether we should look further into organising a mini-bus or coach.
I am aware that there maybe school trips taking place that will immediately rule out some people.
New members
Finally could I remind everyone that we looking for new members of all Age Groups, including adults. If you know anyone who might be interested please spread the word. If anyone can arrange for posters to be put up in suitable location these can be supplied along with a supply of leaflets.
