Hospice Lottery
Since the Hospice Lottery started in 1997 it has brought in over £1,000,000 for Springhill Hospice - pound for pound the most successful charity lottery in the area. The top prize in the weekly fundraising draw is £1,000, with £200 as second prize and £100 as third prize, plus the opportunity to win one of the fifty £10 prizes.
Hospice Lottery Manager, David Clark, takes over the story, “The Hospice needs to find £6,500 a day to fund its present excellent standard of patient care and our lottery is making a positive contribution towards that.
“We have another major plus over the big London-based lotteries in that if you don’t win a prize, you can still guarantee that every £1 of profit made has stayed within Rochdale and gone to help improve specialist nursing care for patients.
“You may not have won a prize, but your money is not lost. It has not gone to some anonymous shareholder or been swallowed up in some national organisation’s excessive administration.
“It is a donation to your Hospice, and will be spent on caring, possibly for someone you know, perhaps from your own family, a neighbour, somebody just down your street, a workmate, an old school pal, somebody in the same church, from your local pub or in the same sports or social club.
“The idea of winning a prize is great – but the feel–good factor of helping the Hospice is what counts for more every time.”
