Over 50's - the Golden Girls & Guys
This group was established in 2002 as a direct response to the needs of older people in the area who were feeling intimidated by their perception of crime in the area which had resulted in them becoming more isolated. The older residents felt trapped in their own homes, often didn’t know their neighbours or become involved in activities outside of their home.
Attending groups like this lessens the feeling of isolation which could lead to high incidence of mental health issues such as depression, meeting in a social environment is both stimulating and enjoyable, throuth listening to artists, speakers.
The group meets Tuesday every week and offers a wide range of activities including speakers, trips, social events and once a month holds a Luncheon Club. Three times through out the year plan hollidaysin places like Blackpool or Llandudno.
Social Afternoons 1.30 – 3.30pm costs £1.55
Luncheon Club 1.00 - 3.30 costs £5.00.
