Syke Community Base

TAI CHI

Hello my name is Janet Smallwood and I teach Tai Chi at Syke Community Base on Friday mornings 9.45 – 10.45 and 11.00 – 12.00.

These classes were set up for the over fifties but this is not set in stone. Classes have something for everyone; you may want to learn the unique moves of Tai Chi, or use it as an exercise system, or just want to meet new people, whatever the reason you will find reward in this beautiful art.

There are several Tai Chi styles; I teach yang. (Yang is the name of the family that developed the style). I will take you through each movement step by step, learning each until you are comfortable to move on.

Tai Chi provides extraordinary health benefits; improves balance, flexibility, calms the mind which in turn reduces stress and blood pressure, helps to develop patience, and some students have told me that they have found improvement in their memory.

Tai Chi can be practised by people of all ages and levels of fitness.

Syke Community Base has a lovely relaxed atmosphere but if you are busy on Fridays I have several other venues to choose from. You can find out more by contacting the
Tai Chi Union for Great Britain at www.taichiunion.com or contact me at home on 01706 525458
