THE ROCHDALE IRISH LANGUAGE GROUP (RILG) Gaeil a' Ghleanna

Gaeil a Ghleanna in 2012

2013 was a busy year for Gaeil a Ghleanna  (GAG)

Class times were brought forward to 4.30 from 7pm

An extra class was formed - we now have three classes - thanks to our teagascóirí (tutors)

Our own website was set up thanks to Rochdale on Line

We produced a youtube which featured on RTE  - the Irish Television Channel

Members of the group visited Coventry for an Irish Conference and Liverpool for a Concert and Workshop

Contact was made with 'Comhaltas' the Irish Organisation for the promotion of Irish Music and Culture -  Pat Shine attended three events in Darwen, Ashton in Makerfield and Leicester.

The big event of the year was undoubtedly the Ceolchoirm Bliaintiúil (Annual Concert)This was our second and was thoroughly enjoyed over a hundred people.  We had three bands,  our own choir several soloists - singing poetry reading and story telling as well as a little drama which went down really well.  There was also a short film in Gaelic with English subtitles.
