EVENT NEWS-Christmas 2011
Sunday 4th & 11th Dec 2011-
NATIVITY SERVICES, in the WHEATSHEAF & EXCHANGE Shopping Centres, ROCHDALE, were lovely events attended by a good crowd of people who stopped and enjoyed the readings & sang along to the carols.
After the Nativity in the Wheatsheaf, we had some more good natured fun & giggles as some of the audience got dressed up in nativity clothes and had their photos taken for posterity! (see photos). The adults particularly enjoyed dressing up because most had missed out on being chosen for the "star" roles when they were at school. The photos were later mounted onto personalised Christmas cards with the Christmas story inside - a personal memento of the event.
CAROL SINGING in the Exchange Shopping Centre & the Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre this Christmas, have been very joyful occasions.
It was wonderful to have the support of some volunteer singers from the different churches and fellowships around Rochdale.
The shop workers came to the store doors; some to listen & some to sing along... as did strolling security staff and patrolling police officers. Everyone enjoyed a Christian version of "The 1st Day of Christmas"; that traditional, jolly, sing-a-long seasonal favourite and produced a few giggles as we all tried to keep up with each other as the tune got faster & faster.
Passers-by gave us plenty of friendly smiles and quite a few stopped to accept a song sheet & join in.
A big thank you to the singers, management & staff of the EXCHANGE & WHEATSHEAF SHOPPING CENTRES in Rochdale for helping to make these events happen.
