Lots to do in and around the borough this weekend:

Rochdale Science Extravaganza, Gallery Exhibitions, Fireground Museum, Colourscape, Calling Planet Earth, Open Mic / Jam night, Live music - various venues, Star Wars Day, Rochdale Ramblers, Rochdale Hornets v Cougars, Springfield Park Model Train Rides, Ellenroad Engine House Open Day, Bowlee Car Boot Sale and Market, GEM Appeal 10K walk.

Visit Fireground Museum – Fireground, Maclure Road,

Thursday 2 May - Saturday 4 May, 10am - 4pm

Fire Museum attractions are on show including historic and recent day artifacts.


Gallery Exhibitions: Rochdale & District Camera Club and Rossendale Art Group

Littleborough Coach House - Friday 3 May - Saturday 4 May, 10am – 3pm.

Exhibitions are generally mounted in the Heritage Room and Victoria Room gallery spaces and each last for approximately one month, with a week's gap to allow for artist changeover. Most items on display are available to purchase.


Colourscape - Rochdale Town Hall Square Saturday 4 May - Sunday 5 May
11am - 4pm (music plays 11.30am - 3.30pm)

Come into the intense COLOUR AND LIGHT of Colourscape and experience music created on unusual instruments.

Wander through extraordinary views of radiant colour and discover musicians and dancers.


  • Friday 3 May

Calling Planet Earth - Middleton Arena, 7.30pm

The show that defines a decade!

Calling Planet Earth is a New Romantic symphony that takes you on a journey through one of the greatest musical eras of all time – The Electrifying 80s.


Open mic / Jam night - Ukrainian Club - 7.30pm

Stage and PA provided. Get yourself some practice or just show everyone what you can do. Bands and solo artists welcome.


Live music from Amanda Summers - Treehouse Bar Rochdale - 7pm

Amanda Summers singing live. She is a superb live solo artist.

Star Wars Day - May the 4th be with you - Fundraising day.

Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre 11am - 4pm

Let's use the power of the force to highlight a local lady and our community's generosity all on the biggest day of the year. Star Wars day.


Rochdale Ramblers - Saturday Walks - Blackstone Edge – 10am

Parking area at Lydgate near the turn off for Whittaker Golf Club on Blackstone Edge Old Road. OL15 0LL

Walk distance = 9 miles. National Grade: Moderate


Live music from Karl Miller - Treehouse Bar Rochdale – 7pm

Enjoy live music from Karl Miller He is a superb live solo artist.

Rochdale Hornets v Cougars - Crown Oil Arena – 3pm kick off

Tickets for fixtures are available from the Hornets website or by contacting the club on the information below.


These Smiths LIVE! - St James Hall, Heywood – 4pm

SDN Events is proud to announce that they are bringing one of the UK's leading Smiths tribute bands to the area.


Springfield Park Model Train Rides – Springfield Park, 1pm – 4pm

The miniature railway is running every Sunday afternoon till the end of October. We have been giving rides in the park for over 60 years.


Ellenroad Engine House Open Day - Ellenroad Engine House – 11am – 4pm

This month we welcome Spring Classic Car Show & Vintage Motorcycle Society.

We have an onsite café serving sandwiches, cakes, pies and soft drinks as well as a small souvenir / gift shop.


Rochdale Science Extravaganza: Inspiring Communities for a Sustainable Future through Art and Science - Rochdale Town Hall - 11.00am - 4.00pm

Join us for a spellbinding day at the Rochdale Science Extravaganza, where the wonders of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) come alive.


GEM Appeal 10K walk - Meet at The Grapes at Bamford – 10am

Another May bank holiday brings another Karen's sponsored 10K walk for The GEM Appeal, which funds research for life threatening genetic and metabolic disorders.


Live music from Ste & Dom - Treehouse Bar Rochdale – 7pm

Be entertained by Ste & Dom - if you like a bit of Irish music this is the place for you tonight.

Monday 6 May

Bowlee Car Boot Sale and Market - Bowlee Community Park - 6am for sellers, 7am for public - 1.30pm.

If it's time for a de-clutter, you can easily offload your unwanted possessions in exchange for cash or explore and bag yourself a bargain. There's a huge range of goods available.
