In New York, 2001 there was a flurry of excitement and rave reviews that greeted The Producers, the stage musical version of Mel Brooks's classic 1968 film.

This March Heywood Amatuer Operatic and Dramatic society are bringing the smash hit musical to Heywood and invite you all to come along for the fun and laughter. When down-on-his-luck Broadway producer Max Bialystock and mousy accountant Leo Bloom hatch a scheme to get rich, by producing Broadway biggest flop, the result is the outrageous musical satire that is laugh-out-loud funny. "Springtime for Hitler," their masterpiece turns out to be a smash, ruining all the plans they had for their success with a failure. Featuring songs such as "I wanna be a producer.", "Springtime for Hitler" "Keep it gay." and "It's bad luck to say good luck on opening night." Winner of a record 12 Tony awards. Audiences will be sure to laugh until they cry at this outrageous, hilarious, teeny bit shocking, off the wall, but never, never boring masterpiece of Musical Theatre.

The production is on from Tuesday the 6th March through to Saturday 10th March at 7.30pm each evening, with a Matinee performance at 2.15pm on Saturday. At Heywood Civic Centre. There’s going to be a lively evening of musical entertainment in Rochdale next month at the Mayor’s Ball, and you’re invited!

Tickets are now on sale for the annual event in February which raises money for the Mayor’s charities. This year these are Middleton Heartline, Springhill Hospice, the MaD Theatre Company and Demesne Digital Mammography Fund.

The lavish function will take place at the beautiful Rochdale Town Hall on Friday 10 February from 7pm until 1am.

You’ll be able to enjoy a drinks reception, followed by a fabulous three-course dinner. Distinguished guests will include the mayors of Greater Manchester and the High Sheriff of Greater Manchester, together with local business leaders.

Music and entertainment will be provided by the multi talented Johnny Sax, who has played with some of the world’s best swing, soul and jazz bands. The talented saxophonist who has accompanied artists including Diana Ross, Ben E King and Gene Pitney, will be performing some of the all time classics along with a spectacular light show. He’ll be followed by disco favorites to dance to night away!

Tickets are now on sale at £35 each. There will also be a raffle and auction. The dress code is lounge suits for men, and cocktail dresses or ball gowns for the ladies.

All money raised from the event will go to the Mayor’s chosen charities.

A Mr and Mrs evening in aid of Springhill Hospice. £10.00 per couple including a glass of fizz. Couples will answer questions about themselves and if they get their answers correct be awarded points.

The couple who have the most points at the end of the evening will be crowned the champions and just like the TV show....will win the Mr and Mrs Carriage Clock. Great fun, and in aid of a great cause.

At the annual showcase, young people perform in front of family, friends and other members of the community.

The show is packed with different styles of singing and dance, from MCing, to ballet. It's young person lead and young people even compare and run all aspects of the show.

Bury & Rochdale Magistrates' Court is organisng an Information Stall in the Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre, to raise awareness of the Magistracy and the merger between the Rochdale and Bury Magistrates Courts and relocation to Bury.

The will take place in the Rochdale Exchange Shopping Area on Friday the 10 February, 2012, from 9.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Magistrates and legal Advisers will be available there to answer any questions members of the public may have and will also provide the information about the new location.

The purpose of the stall is basically engaging the local community and raising their awareness about the magistracy and the merger of Rochdale and Bury Magisrates Courts. There will be information about the location of Bury Courts and how to get there. People will be able to write down their concerns and ask questions.
