Events in Rochdale - Meetings

This month's meeting features a talk by Barbara Allen updating us on the NHS Programme "Healthy Futures".

The Objects of the Society are the maintaining and increasing of interest in Lancashire Dialect.  Monthly Meetings, the usual format for meetings is:

A welcome to all from the evening's Chairman, (a different one every week); a rendition (or should that be rending?) of Edwin Waugh's song "A lift on the Way", followed by a reading of a poem or extract from one of Waugh's works by a pressed volunteer and then the 'parish notices' from the Secretary.

The Guest for the evening then entertains, a vote of thanks is given and a second Waugh song, the most appropriate "Toddlin' Whom", ends the evening about 9.15 pm.

After this, in the immortal words of our previous President Jack Lye, " Tha con aw Pike off whom neaw!"

The Ramblers’ Association aims to encourage walking, protect rights of way, increase access on foot to uncultivated land and defend the beauty of the countryside. Walking boots and suitable clothing are advised for all walks. Leaders may turn away walkers who are not adequately dressed for the conditions. A packed lunch is advised for day walks and snack/drink for half day ones. For more information on a walk, please contact the walks leader.

Lenten Meetings, starting the Wednesday after Ash Wednesday for five weeks.  

• March 17th at Bamford Chapel, "Outside the City Wall."led by Rev'd Daniel Mwailu 
• March 24th at Cutgate Baptist Church, "Touching the Rock."led by Rev'd Brian Drury
  Coffee and tea will be served at 7-30pm, followed by the York Lenten Course, "When I Survey.....Christ's Cross and Our's" from 7-45 - 9-15pm

Registration will take place from 12 noon after which there will be half an hour of excellent informal networking before the lunch itself and again at your table during lunch. You will also have the opportunity to promote your business during the one minute rounds where individuals can stand up and promote their businesses.

Don’t forget to bring your business cards as the networking opportunities will be plentiful! All those interested in attending should contact Pauline Pawlykiwskyj.

Paul Rowen holds regular surgeries across Rochdale. There is no need to make an appointment to attend a surgery, just attend during the time shown below, it is on a first come, first served basis. Free Training for Volunteers

We will help you adapt into your volunteering role to make sure you get the best from it.

We will look at different types of volunteering, positives/negatives of volunteering and expectations. We will have practice interviews and look at volunteering opportunities for you.

Please book your place in advance.
