Rochdale Feel Good Festival

Regeneration or redevelopment of Rochdale is starting to get underway. There is going to be millions of pounds worth of investment coming into Rochdale, starting now with the construction of our new 6th Form College, then the new Bus Station, Council offices, Metrolink and the town centre development. These are all longer term projects which will help Rochdale attract new business, create jobs and prosperity for the people of our town.

It is also vitally important that we should support our town centre economy now. Some aspects of business, the Council has little control over, such as Business Rates and Rent, but there are things we can influence, like Council owned parking areas where we have introduced free parking if you arrive after 3pm.

Your Rochdale Township Councillors have also agreed to support events throughout the year aimed at increasing footfall in our town centre. The Township team, together with other organisations, have been working hard on the first of these events, the Rochdale Feel Good Festival, Friday 10th and Saturday 11th, July. There will be lots of things to do and see, including cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs and a quality food market. There will be FREE live music at various venues from noon on Saturday, culminating with the Bluetones playing on the main stage by the Town Hall.

With all this talk of regeneration and redevelopment why not, in the meantime, come and rediscover Rochdale Town Centre this July?

Hope to see you there!

Councillor Andrew Abbott
Chair, Rochdale Township.
