WOOLIES CLUB REVIEW

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ.

It is almost a year since the Club ‘re-opened’ and many good things have resulted.

Firstly the support and goodwill of all who love the Club and all it stands for is greatly appreciated by the staff and committee throughout this period, so thank you all.

Secondly the committee guided by Clubco, the professional agency which is helping us gain financial stability, has become more knowledgeable on certain aspects of how best the Club can move forward.

HEALTH AND SAFETY.  The club has a duty of care to make sure all regulations are complied with, be it our electrical certificate and all round safety aspects, this is now in place.

INSURANCE.  We now are insured by a specialist insurance broker, Clubinsure.  The professional advice given by Clubinsure has assisted the committee, who are not experts, in understanding all aspects of our insurance cover.

MEMBERSHIP.  As part of the committees understanding of how our Club is correctly managed it is clear that we must in future tighten up’ on membership conditions of a Private Club.  All who enjoy the Club can agree that the unique nature of our Club is valuable to all the families and guests who frequent the Club.

To this end the committee thank all, over 130 (including 2 members who live in Spain!) who have already renewed membership for 2019, thank you all.

The above means that guests who frequent the Club on a regular basis, once or twice a week, will, from the end of January be required to re-join or to ‘sign in’ and pay a subscription each time they sign in.  as the full membership is less than 20 pence per week this ‘signing in’ amount will be in excess of this.   We are sure that all members will see this as reasonable and as a necessary step to keep in line with the commitments outlined above.

The committee has no plans to alter the ‘guests’ conditions of those guests who attend functions, private or Club arranged, games nights, quiz team etc.

The yearly subscription, which is VAT rated, helps the Club to do ‘housekeeping’ and will improve, over the years, the fabric of the public rooms, decorating, remodelling the games room and the function room.

FUNCTIONS.  It is imperative that we attract as many private functions as possible.  Our facilities as a venue for all types of ‘Do’s’ is very attractive, no stairs and a ramped access, and is fast becoming one of the few venues which can offer this locally.

CARD PAYMENT.  Since around October the provision to pay by debit card has been available in the Club.  This has proved very popular to many.

The committee is open to new members and if you are not ‘a committee’ person please offer any help you can, we all have skills, to work on our Club for the future.

The committee thanks all of you for your continued support and thanks Annette and Bob and all the staff for once again going the extra mile, especially on their efforts with special fund raising events over the last 12 months.

If you have any queries on the above, including membership conditions, please ask a committee member and an explanation will be given.

YOUR COMMITTEE.  Elaine Clarkson, Secretary, Darrel Vere, Chair, Adrian Robinson, Treasurer, Matt Dearden, Minutes and IT,  Jeff Clarkson, Rod Hughes, Frank Salt.
