Picture the scene it’s a Bank Holiday Monday, your off work, the sun is beating down, how much better could it be?

Well you could be at Rochdale Cricket Club supporting the now annual T20 cricket match in memory of the late Steve Gartland.

The match features a Rochdale Cricket Club eleven including pro Edward Moore, against a Mayfield eleven which is rumoured to include a surprise guest or two.

Also donning the pads and raising his bat will be star of Hollyoaks and Waterloo Road, Ben Ryan Davies.

Last year’s inaugural fixture saw a strong Mayfield side emerge victorious with a stunning half century from Aidy Gleeson.

Rochdale have other ideas this time round and are looking to even the score, so a cracker of a game is in prospect.

There are two games taking place with a Mayfield youth side facing a Rochdale CC outfit at 11.00am followed by the 'real deal' at 1.00pm.

Last year’s event saw a large crowd enjoy the day and a substantial amount of money was raised for the SG6 Foundation, and this year it’s hoped will be an even better day with the weather promising to be fantastic.

There will music, food, raffles and the bar will be open for the day so come along for what is promising to be one of the best bank holiday events in the area.

Not only will you have a great day, but you will be supporting a great cause and helping them to help people who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.
