Littleborough RUFC Fundraiser in aid of Daniel Roberts and Matty Hayden

Littleborough Rugby Club will be hosting an afternoon fundraiser in aid of Daniel Roberts - a young team member who requires chemotherapy - and Matthew Hayden - one of our players who was maliciously attacked in a horrible hate crime on 2 June.

Dan Roberts underwent a gruelling 10 hour emergency operation to remove a brain tumour, just days before his 10th birthday. Unfortunately the operation though presented better progress on the sickness, the young boy is now requiring chemotherapy at £2,000.

Matthew is currently still in hospital with a fractured skull that has lead to loss of feeling down his left arm and possible further life changing injuries. The young man was due to be moving to America in September to take up a rugby scholarship which he will now no longer be able to partake in and will be off work from his current job for the foreseeable future as he strives to make a full recovery.

In efforts to raise money for these young lads as they face daunting financial challenges ahead, the club will have a collection bucket for them on the taster day and will be doing an auction at 5.00pm, including items like a signed Wigan Warriors signed shirt after a charity match.

A Presidents XV made up of players from across the club will face off against Matthew's Magaluf XV, made up of players from Matthew's Colts side that toured Magaluf in April. The game will kick off at 2.00pm.

The day will also include a BBQ, raffle, stalls, an inflatable assault course, bouncy castle and much more.
