Public Consultation - Relocation of Heywood Post Office

Post Office Ltd have announced a Public Meeting to be held on Tuesday 26th March at Trinity Methodist Church, Heywood 15:30 - 19:00.

  • The proposal is to relocate the business to the former Beddoes shop on Market Street.
  • The location is in the one – way system the only access being on Market Street.
  • Double Yellow Lines are in Place on both sides of the road and a No Loading restriction is in place.
  • A restriction on parking on Hill St has just been approved due to parking problems in that area.
  • Existing parking and congestion on Hind Hill St, Fox St, Taylor St will simply be relocated not alleviated or resolved.
  • The Hind Hill St Office is the last one in the town, Heywood used to have eight sub post offices all now closed.
  • The recent introduction of a Post Office on Bridge St 150 yds from the proposed location was short lived and the business now closed.
  • What will happen if this new location also closes. There is no guarantee that the Hind Hill Premises will be available as they are not owned by Post Office Ltd.
