Details:

Rochdale residents have the chance to take part in a ten-week course this summer.

Rochdale Families for Peace is a free course, open to anyone living in the Rochdale borough. Sessions take place from 10am - 1pm on Wednesday mornings at The Strand Community Hub in Kirkholt. Beginning on Wednesday 31 July 2019, the course will run for 10 weeks.

You can:

  • Help make a positive difference to the local area
  • Receive a recognised Open Awards qualification and certificate
  • Share understanding about issues like conflict and extremism
  • Gain new skills to help resolve disagreements and disputes, whether in the family, at work, or in the community.

The course is being run by the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Peace Foundation - a charity set up in memory of the two boys who were tragically killed in the IRA’s 1993 bomb attack on Warrington.

Hannah Larn, a facilitator at the Peace Foundation, said: “Schoolchildren in different parts of the borough have already taken part in our Small Steps for Peace activities. Now this popular course gives people the chance to share ideas and try out new ways of resolving conflict. It’s true that our courses are about serious issues – but they are also a lot of fun, and a great way to meet new people and develop your skills and CV."

People interested in signing up for the course or wanting to find out more should contact Hannah by emailing hannah.larn@peace-foundation.org.uk or phoning 07572 975 949.

Entry fee: Free
