Morson Group donates £80,000 to Springhill Hospice
Springhill Hospice was presented with a cheque for £80,000 by Morson Group at a luncheon event on Thursday (19 January).
Joining Springhill Hospice were representatives of the Seashell Trust, a second charity the group raised funds for, the Morson charity committee and Group CEO, Ged Mason.
David Robinson, chairman of the Morson Group charity committee, said: “With it being the tenth anniversary of the committee, we are so delighted to have been able to raise such a magnificent amount.
“We would like to thank everyone within the Morson Group who have gone out of their way to help us raise this figure. I would like to give a special thank you to the rest of the charity committee for all their hard work and commitment throughout the year. None of these events would have happened without their enthusiasm and dedication.”
Springhill Hospice provides specialist palliative care to patients and their families, and the funds provided will help them provide the highest standard of physical, emotional and spiritual care for patients with life-limiting illnesses.
Springhill Hospice Chief Executive, Julie Halliwell said, “We were absolutely thrilled to receive this wonderful donation from the Morson Group following what has clearly been a magnificent fundraising year. To receive this amount from one donation was incredible and it will be put to very good use to benefit those in our care.”
The Seashell Trust, based in Stockport, provides care to young children with profound and life-threatening disabilities.
In total, Manchester-based Morson Group raised £160,000 for the two charities, over £100,000 of which was raised at a masquerade ball in September at Lancashire County Cricket Ground.
Other events that contributed towards the funds were dress down days, golf days and sky dives.
