Hollyoaks star & powerlifting champion visits Rochdale company

Date published: 09 July 2018

Hollyoaks actress and super-fit powerlift champion Jazmine Franks paid a special visit to Rochdale on Thursday (5 July) to discover a newly invented food called Lo-Dough.

The 26-year-old soap star, who played Esther Bloom in Hollyoaks until April this year, visited Lo-Dough HQ in central Rochdale to taste low carb pizza and quiche, which she wants to use as part of her fitness goals.

Lo-Dough is a start-up Rochdale company which makes innovative bread and pastry alternatives with unique nutritional value. Because it has managed to make a bread product which is virtually carb free, it has taken the slimming and fitness markets by storm, and already has 50,000 customers in its first year of operation.

Jazmine said: “It was great to spend the afternoon at Lo-Dough HQ, eating yummy low-carb pizza and sugar-free brownies. Thanks to the team for having me, I can’t wait to wear my apron and pick a recipe from the website to try at home.”

Luke Anthony showed Jazmine around the Lo-Dough factory before leading her to the kitchen for a taster session. He said: “It was great to have Jazmine at Lo-Dough, not just because she’s a recognised face but because she’s really into her fitness and can see the benefit of it for her training.

“She’s done amazingly well with her powerlifting and I’m sure she’s going to be even more successful with it in the future. Hopefully she liked the Lo-Dough pizzas, quiche and brownies as much as we do.”

Company founders Rob Wales and Ben Holden now run a successful operation in Rochdale, with over 30 members of staff and hundreds of Lo-Dough packages sent out each day.

Lo-Dough has recently become the first ever company to be awarded the “reduced carb” claim by Sugarwise, meaning it is now an officially recognised low carb product.
