SSE open a northern base in Rochdale

Date published: 15 November 2018

National energy company SSE has opened a northern base in Rochdale.

The company, who are involved in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity and gas were looking for an office base in Greater Manchester earlier this year, and senior contracts engineer Jamie Roche said after a market search, the council-run Globe House in Rochdale was the preferred choice: “The business is growing, so I was asked to find a new office. After looking around industrial units and offices we selected Globe House as we were really impressed with the offer.”

Living in Wardle, means Jamie avoids a long commute too, and he’s enjoying the move from home working to a professional office environment.

Jamie said: “The staff at Globe are great and the support services are there when we need them. There’s 24-hour security and the M62 is close by. We find the training and meeting rooms useful as we have clients visiting us from all over the UK who find us easy to get to.

“The company is working on some exciting projects, including the Network Rail Euston to Carlisle network upgrade and the upcoming HS2 project.

“We’ve already started to expand, recruiting four new engineering apprentices this summer and an administrator from Littleborough, making a team of 12, with plans to recruit more engineers and some electricians in summer 2019.”
