New chair of the strategy board for AMPI is appointed

Dr Ruth Mallors-Ray OBE has been appointed as Chair of the Strategy Board of AMPI (Advanced Machinery and Productivity Institute).

The newly formed Strategy Board, which includes representation from industry, government and academia, will make the planned AMPI within the borough of Rochdale a reality to maximise the opportunities which AMPI offers the UK’s advanced machinery sector.

Ruth, who is formerly the Chief Operating Officer of the Aerospace Technology Institute, has significant experience of strategy development and execution with a focus on challenge led innovation with impact.

She is an experienced chair of technical and advisory panels, focusing on engagement and consensus building on complex topics, with a strategic approach to act in the best interests of the whole and achieve the outcomes for a range of stakeholders.

She has a broad understanding of the UK’s innovation ecosystem and the complex relationships between government, industry and academia. She is also chair of the CAA’s Environmental Sustainability Panel and chair of the Strategic Advisory Board of the Digital Supply Chain Innovation Hub.

She brings a wealth of experience and a leadership style that will bring the best out of the passionate and committed advanced machinery community to realise its potential.
 


AMPI is an industry led initiative leading the way for the machinery manufacturing industry in the UK by encouraging invention, innovation and the incorporation of advanced technology into the sector.

AMPI is one of five innovation programmes to have been awarded funding from Wave 2 of the UKRI Strength in Places Fund programme. The 5-year programme, led by NPL, is stimulating innovation and adoption of new technology through collaboration and direct support to industry.
