Marsh Finance awarded carbon-neutral status for second year running

Date published: 30 January 2023

A Rochdale-based car finance company has been awarded carbon-neutral status for two consecutive years.

Marsh Finance received the certification from PlanNet-Zero after reaching the internationally recognised carbon-neutral standard by offsetting its carbon emissions.

Marsh has invested in the Envira Amazonia REDD+ Project in Brazil, and the Zhangbei Gaojialiang Wind Farm in China to reduce its carbon footprint.

Richard Whalley, Head of Operations at Marsh Finance, said: "I am delighted to have led Marsh to become operationally carbon neutral for the second consecutive year. Never wanting to stand still, we endeavour to do more in the coming months and years for the good of our planet and, indeed, us all. I would encourage any business to consider the opportunity and would not hesitate to recommend PlanNet-Zero."

Michael Jacobs, Carbon Advisor at PlanNet-Zero, said: "The weight of evidence surrounding climate change is irrefutable. Businesses must change their practices and emphasise their sustainability strategy as we close in on global net-zero targets.

“Whilst decarbonisation is the primary focus, there are many other reasons to get involved, whether future proofing for upcoming legislation, gaining first mover advantage, securing contracts, and enhancing brand reputation.

“PlanNetZero has found a model partner in Marsh Finance. From top to bottom, the company was dedicated to addressing its environmental responsibility. Marsh has calculated its operational carbon footprint through our One Two Zero programme and offset it twice over to achieve a carbon-positive position for their organisational emissions."

Marsh Finance is now looking to reduce its environmental footprint further by exploring new avenues to obtain a NetZero status.
