The Casey Group awarded Building a Safer Future Champion status

Date published: 28 November 2023

North West main contractor, The Casey Group Ltd has achieved Building a Safer Future (BSF) Champion status.

The award recognises companies in the built environment industry that are committed to raising standards in building safety.

Headquartered in Rochdale, The Casey Group is only the tenth organisation to complete the rigorous BSF Champion assessment.

The BSF Champion process gives organisations detailed insight into their existing leadership and culture around building safety. Underpinned by the Building a Safer Future Charter, it equips built environment companies with data and practical tools to help review and upgrade processes that keep people safe.

Chris Casey, managing director of The Casey Group Ltd, commented: “We are delighted to secure Champion status from Building a Safer Future. Established as a family business with strong values, we encourage every person across the company to realise their potential, contribute to our success and achieve our company purpose of ‘Improving Lives’.

“From first meeting with BSF, we knew that pursuing champion status aligned with our standards. Being recognised as a BSF Champion – with its annual action plans and regular assessments – will help us to drive continuous improvement throughout everything we do when it comes to building safety.”

Steve Elliott, non-executive chair of Building a Safer Future, said: “I want to congratulate The Casey Group for achieving Building a Safer Future Champion status. They can be commended for stepping forward to take a leadership role and taking meaningful action in committing to their building safety journey. We hope many more organisations in the industry follow the excellent example they are setting.”

Building a Safer Future is a non-profit organisation committed to raising standards in building safety and supporting required culture change in the built environment industry. The charter that underpins it is a proactive response to Dame Judith Hackitt’s Building a Safer Future Review following the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
