Digital artist and photographer John Cooke of Rochdale has issued a call for fellow artists and artisans in the area to showcase their work in his new online gallery.
John launched the Rochdale Artists and Artisans Gallery this year.
He said he launched the site to showcase his own work and now wants to help amateur artists in Rochdale too.
“There is really nothing for local artists at the moment,” John explained.
As suggested by the name of the gallery, John is not just looking for artists, he is also on the lookout for photographers, textile designers and jewellery makers or designers among many others.
“I just want any kind of small, one person business really,” he said.
The gallery would provide them with a page to display their work, which John has offered to photograph, and also an enquiries page to generate business and sales.
All John is asking for in return is a small starting fee and he is urging anybody interested to get in touch.
Currently displayed in the gallery are John’s own digital art prints, including his “Rochdale Through Rose-Tinted Glass” exhibition, also on display in Littleborough’s Coach House Gallery.
John, who has produced digital art for the past two to three years, uses his own unique editing technique to generate his colourful prints.
Artists who wish to display their work alongside John’s should contact him using the below details or visit the website for more information.
John believes his website will counter a current lack of opportunities for artists and artisans to promote their work.
“Local artists should sign up so that they have got a broader appeal, and a bigger market place to showcase their own talents,” he said.
