Olympic swimming star Rebecca Adlington makes a splash with BMW X6

Date published: 12 March 2013

Double Olympic bronze medallist and BMW UK ambassador Rebecca Adlington visited Williams BMW on Tuesday 11 March to take delivery of a new BMW X6.

The swimming star is being provided with the vehicle to aid her in her role as a BMW UK ambassador as she continues to inspire children across the UK to take to the pool.

Rebecca is Britain’s most successful swimmer, having won double gold in Beijing in 2008 and double bronze at London 2012. She also has two world champion titles, two Commonwealth titles, one European title and 13 British championships to her name.

The recently retired star will now roll out her own learn to swim programme for young children called Becky Adlington’s Swim Stars.

Rebecca said: “I am extremely grateful for the continued support offered to me by BMW UK especially in the run up to London 2012 and now during my retirement. Having access to this vehicle allows me to fulfil my role as BMW UK ambassador and I look forward to helping to inspire and motivate children to get involved with swimming.”

A spokesperson at Williams Group said: “Rebecca is a fantastic athlete and we share the nation’s pride in her accomplishments at Beijing and London 2012. Williams Group is delighted to support her in her role as a BMW UK ambassador and her ambition of inspiring swimming stars of the future.”
