Date published: 02 September 2013
David Ost, North West Region Director at EEF
Commenting on today’s PMI data, David Ost, North West Region Director at EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation, said: “We’re seeing a consistent and positive trend across UK manufacturing and today’s data reinforces the view that the sector is back on the road to recovery. Improving output and orders are evident across all key sectors, with both the UK and overseas markets supporting growth.
"Taken together with improving indicators across most parts of Europe the conditions are right for manufacturers to see continued expansion in the remainder of this year with growth accelerating in 2014.”
The EEF/BDO Q3 manufacturing outlook survey was published today, including upgraded forecasts for manufacturing for 2014 of 2.1%, up from the previous forecast of 1.9%.
