Businesses join together to create Castleton Business Forum

Date published: 08 December 2014

The inaugural meeting of the Castleton Business Forum was held at Mayfield Rugby Club last week to coincide with Small Business Saturday. The business forum is an opportunity for businesses within the Castleton area of Rochdale to share ideas, work together and let everyone know what Castleton has to offer.

The initial meeting was attended by a number of businesses, and very productive discussions were had around how to better promote the existing businesses within the area, along with some ideas for community events supported by the local businesses to bring people together.

Sarah Cross,of Lucy Amelia Bridal on Manchester Road, said: "We relocated our business to Castleton in August and we’re really impressed with how friendly all the local shop owners have been, the passing trade in Castleton is excellent and there are so many hidden gems within the village. It’s a really exciting time in Castleton with lots of new houses being built and there’s an opportunity to create a thriving village, we want to encourage people to shop local and the best way to do this is by working together with other businesses."

Claire Dring, of Forget Me Not, Balloon Specialist, also based on Manchester Road, said: "We wanted to establish a business forum in Castleton as people don’t know about the wealth of businesses which already exist within the village and it’s hoped that by coming together we can put Castleton businesses back on the map."
