Chippylicious, on Church Street in Littleborough, has reached the gold standard for their fish and chips - the top rating in the Council’s Healthier Choices Scheme, which encourages takeaways to reduce saturated fat and trans fat in their chips.
Owner Keren White, who has run Chippylicious for the past three years, joined the scheme eighteen months ago and says customer feedback has been great: “Feedback from our regulars has been great, customers love the chips and say they are crispier and still very tasty.
"It’s also a good way of improving the image of the traditional chippy.”
Healthier Choices Manager Clare McNicol said the scheme is about encouraging takeaways to serve healthier food and informing customers why it’s important: “Thousands of customers have benefitted since Healthier Choices was launched and the gold, silver or bronze rating displayed in takeaways shows how you easy it is to make a healthier choice. Look out for the Healthier Choices logo, by choosing healthier chips you’ll be doing your heart a big favour.”
