The Chocolate Bar opens in Rochdale

Date published: 30 April 2015

The Chocolate Bar, a new business tempting customers to try chocolate desserts, ice creams and even beer, has opened today (Thursday 30 April) in the heart of Rochdale.

Located on the corner of Yorkshire Street and Cheetham Street, the Chocolate Bar aims to bring something unique to the town.

The Chocolate Bar Manager, Victoria Ballard said: “Being a frequent customer of the Feel Good Café, I was gutted that it closed and after working in both retail and the catering industry, my husband and I had a long chat about what was best for the building and what the town needed.

“So we decided to bring back the spirit and the warmth of the Feel Good Café, but give it something that you just don’t find everywhere else – a good quality luxury chocolate offer that is totally unique to Rochdale.”

Owner Martin Ballard said: “The Feel Good Café really worked as a business at lunchtime. It was always busy, so we wanted to keep that aspect of it and ... also wanted to offer something that Rochdale doesn’t have.

“I knew that this building had to be used as something other than a charity shop that it was intended for. Many have tried to make it work but for different reasons have failed and we feel that we can now make it work by bringing in a different concept.”

The Chocolate Bar will also be home to three small offices and a meeting area where people can hold meetings in a comfortable environment, and at weekends there will be children’s birthday parties complete with catering and entertainment from professionally trained team members.

The Chocolate Bar will be using local suppliers and quality Rochdale goods as well as bringing to town things you just can’t get anywhere else with its exclusive range of American sweets, and a chocolate fountain will also be on site soon.

The café will open 8am until 8pm.
