General Election 2015: whoever wins, businesses need clarity and predictability on business rates
Date published: 06 May 2015
Mark Rigby, Chief Executive at CVS, said: “Tomorrow, the nation decides but the businesses we have spoken to have already made their minds up. They want clarity and predictability on business rates and a system which serves the interests of the taxpayer not the tax-collector.
"Is any political party offering that?
"Not as such.
"Commitments to review the system, to cut and freeze, to devolve more powers to cities and to improve local retention – these are all in the mix.
"Whatever happens as the country heads to the polls, CVS is championing the need for the new government to put business rates high on its list of priorities and to listen to what businesses are saying.
"Now is the time for a better, fairer and more transparent business rates system.”
