Date published: 02 October 2015

EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation, has appointed Steve Warren as its new North West Region Director. He will be stepping into the role on the 12th October and will be based out of EEF’s regional HQ and training centre in Glazebrook, Warrington.

Steve will be leading a team of experts responsible for ensuring that North West manufacturers get every possible support in growing their businesses and staying up-to-date on key issues, such as employment law, health and safety and sustainability. Steve will also work alongside EEF members in the region to influence both the regional and national policy agenda in order to create the best possible environment for manufacturing in the North West.

Steve is perfectly placed to understand the support required and the challenges faced by North West manufacturers. He joins EEF from Ferranti Technologies, a global defence and aerospace business based in Oldham, where he was Managing Director. He has also been an active member of EEF’s North West Regional Advisory Board for the last 5 years.

A mechanical engineering graduate, Steve has previously worked in engineering roles for Perkins Engines and Royal Ordnance before joining Ferranti in 1987. He has been the MD since 2010. He is married with 2 children and lives in Hale, Cheshire.

Andrew Buckley, Membership Director at EEF, says: “Steve will be a tremendous addition to our organisation and to the support we can offer manufacturers in the North West. He joins at a time of great challenge, but also great opportunity for UK manufacturing. His leadership, experience and expertise will be instrumental in helping businesses in this region to continue to grow.”

Steve Warren, newly appointed North West Region Director at EEF, says: “EEF has a long and proud history of supporting businesses in this region. I’m delighted to have this opportunity to work with other manufacturers to identify how EEF can help them maximise their opportunities and address their challenges to drive their businesses forward. The North West has a manufacturing sector to be proud of and I want to make sure it gets the recognition and voice it deserves.”
