'From Norden With Love' raised over £3,357 for Manchester bomb victims appeal

Date published: 06 June 2017

The 'From Norden With Love' event at Norden Cricket Club, on Friday 2 June, raised £3,357.

The fundraising was for the British Red Cross Manchester Bomb Victims Appeal.

DJ sets were from Dave Sweetmore (Manchester / Norden), Zak Thompson (Newcastle), Melanie Carter (Wigan) and Oli Makin (Rochdale), playing a night of Manchester music and anthems.

Also, modern poet Pete Wilky recited a few poems about Manchester.

Special guest Andrew Freddie Flintoff met fans, had pictures taken and did a Q & A session.

Donations for the raffle came from local businesses.

Dave Sweetmore, who organised the event, said: “The terrorist attack at the Arena is something we will never forget, and although I’ve been involved with fundraising events over the last couple of weeks in the City Centre I felt that as a Norden resident I wanted to do something in our village.

“I can’t thank the management and staff at Norden Cricket Club enough, their help was invaluable, and also all of the local businesses who helped out with raffle prizes.

“Also, the other DJs and team behind me who made it happen.

“The amount we raised is phenomenal and shows what a great community we have.

“It was a brilliant night with an unbelievable atmosphere, it’s a night Norden will never forget, so most of all thank you to everyone who came.”
