School Football Team

Upper Key Stage Two arranged a friendly football match with our IPLCN colleagues at Lowerplace Primary School.

The match was part of our anti-bullying week celebrations and the children wore wristbands with “everyone is different-everyone is equal” and rainbow coloured sweatbands, emblematic of our commitment to be inclusive and supportive of all groups, individuals and family-make-ups that exist in our community.

The final score was very fitting for a friendly, inclusion match as both teams walked away with equal cause to celebrate a 3-3 draw was the result.

Thank you to Lowerplace for coming to compete with us.

The Hamer team were also awarded the citizens of the week for fantastic team work against Lowerplace School.

Littleborough Shoe Box Appeal

In each class we have a box for a girl and a boy, we are looking for donations of new note pads, colouring books, pencils, small toys, hair bobbles, sweets but not chocolate and any other small item that parents think a child may like. We are sure they will appreciate any donation received. Thank you.

Anti-Bullying Week

This week, the children have been working on all aspects of anti - bullying under the theme of everyone is different – everyone is equal.

We are raising our awareness that inclusion and equality are central to effective and harmonious communities and that, regardless of anyone’s perceived difference, everyone is equal and valued.

This involves making sure that all different types of families are valued, different cultures, different orientations, different positive choices and that no words associated with any minority group are ever used to put down or exclude.

As usual, our children are enjoying celebrating all that is different and good in the world around them and are taking increasing responsibility for the inclusion of others in its widest sense.

Phonics Meeting

There will be a Phonics meeting on Wednesday 22 November at 3.15pm for Nursery and Reception. We look forward to seeing many parents there as possible so that we can look at phonics in school and show how parents can help with phonics and reading development at home.

Nursery Book Loan

The Nursery Book Loan will start on Friday 17 November, books can be taken home on a Friday to be enjoyed over the weekend and returned to school every Monday morning.

Reading Destinations

What a pleasure it was in Friday assembly to see how children are rising to the challenge of the Reading Destinations initiative. Mrs Hoyle nearly exploded with excitement as she announced that two more classes had read enough books to reach their destinations. Keep up the reading at home Hamer!
