Children’s play area cleaned up by volunteers

Date published: 31 August 2018

Young people and volunteers from Deeplish were busy all evening on Thursday (30 August), cleaning up the Hare Street children’s play area.

To make the play area safe and improve its image, the volunteers soon became busy with clearing litter, cutting unwanted and overgrown shrubs from the sides of the park, and making the entrance safe and child-friendly.

They also cleaned the whole street by clearing any litter and cutting overgrown shrubs.

Arshad Mahmood, a local resident and committee member of community centre, said: “It is good to see young people taking an active role in improving the environment by volunteering and working with their local residents and community centre.

He also encouraged local residents to take an active role in keeping the streets clean and litter free.

He added: “We are pleased to see such positive action from young people.”
