Sunday 3 January

A Honda Civic crashed into an Insignia after failing to stop for patrols. Both drivers were arrested for aggravated taking without consent.

A Rochdale man was arrested on suspicion of committing criminal damage.

A man from Rochdale was arrested on suspicion of theft and being drunk and disorderly

Monday 4 January

A man was arrested on suspicion of causing harassment, alarm or distress.

A man from Rochdale was arrested on suspicion of committing drug offences.

A man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving.

A Rochdale man was arrested for breaching his bail conditions.

A juvenile was arrested overnight for robbery and was charged and remanded in custody to appear in court.

Christopher Wilkinson, 21, from Heywood, has been charged with aggravated burglary and was kept in custody to appear before the courts.

Daniel Brierley, 40, from Heywood, has been charged with assault and rape. He was refused bail and appeared at court.

James Merrick, 25, from Heywood, has been charged with robbery, racially aggravated public order, assault and possession of cannabis.

Police in Heywood and Middleton have stated that since 1 January 2016, 14 people have been arrested for 31 different offences ranging from public order and drink driving to kidnap and robbery.

Tuesday 5 January

A male has been arrested for a serious assault whereby the victim was attacked with a machete.

The vehicle registration BX08 FSK was stolen from a Ford Transit van. Anyone with information is asked to ring 101.

A laptop and other items were stolen from a broken down vehicle on Durnford Street, Middleton. Police officers are asking residents to keep their valuables safe.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of committing witness intimidation.

One man from Rochdale was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud and money laundering.

Two Rochdale men were arrested for breaching their bail conditions.

A Rochdale man was arrested on suspicion of theft.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of committing witness intimidation.

A Rochdale man was arrested for breach of the peace.

There has been an increase in the number of burglaries in the Healey area and officers are urging residents to be vigilant and security conscious.

Officers are asking residents to:

  • Always ensure that all doors and windows are locked.
  • Make sure your alarm is on when leaving the house or when going to bed.
  • Don’t leave any house or vehicle keys on window sills or near the door.
  • When leaving the house or going to bed don’t leave valuables in view.

Wednesday 6 January

A Rochdale man was arrested on suspicion of being responsible for two counts of assault and one further offence.

A Rochdale man was arrested for breaching a Court Order.

Carl Reid (18/05/1991), from Wardle, has been charged with possessing a sharp pointed article in a public place and has been bailed to appear at Bury and Rochdale Magistrates Court on 12 February.

Thursday 7 January

A Rochdale man was arrested for conspiracy to defraud.

A Man from Rochdale was arrested for a drugs offence and harassment.

A man from Rochdale arrested on Wednesday (6 January) afternoon for breaching the terms and conditions of a domestic violence order.

Castleton officers conducted a drugs warrant during the week and 24 cannabis plants were located in the loft. The offender (occupant) was arrested at the scene.

Police officers are warning of bogus charity collectors in the Wardleworth area. The offender is described as an Asian male/Sikh male, with a turban and long white beard, approximately 50-years-old. The male was wearing a black coat and had no charity box and no ID.

Residents are asked to be vigilant of cold callers knocking on doors in the area and are asked that if you do see any suspicious activity, call 101.
