Collision at Townhead junction
The passenger of an Audi and the driver of a Mini were taken to hospital via ambulance for treatment to minor injuries on Sunday (10 January) evening after a collision at Townhead junction.
Police were called to the incident at 7.25pm.
Townhead Junction was blocked for approximately an hour.
This is the seventh accident at the junction in recent months.
Concerns have been raised about the safety of the junction since it was 'improved', due to there being no filter arrow from Yorkshire Street turning right into Whitworth Road.
The Rochdale Association of Private Hire Drivers (RAPHD) has urged the Council to adjust the traffic signals and put a right filter arrow from Yorkshire Street.
In December, the council put temporary road signs at the junction following a series of six crashes at the junction in six days and promised to "continue to monitor the junction and make adjustments if necessary”.
