Arts Award workshops

Date published: 04 February 2016

Mr Dalby returned to visit 7C2CL at Falinge Park High School this week, not as a member of the staff, but as a visiting guest speaker when he came to talk to the Arts Award group as a creative artist and semi-professional script writer.

Mr Dalby spent some time talking about his own writing career and the opportunities that have emerged for him and then he led a practical activity to help students gain a better understanding of how to structure pieces of writing for different purposes.

The award winning writer talked in-depth about the writing process and how it differs for individual writers.

The workshop concluded with a review of what students learnt from the session.

‘What’s In A Word?’ Arts Award Leadership Sessions

Students from 7C2CL led short workshops to other Year 7 students this week as part of the ‘What’s In A Word?’ Project.

The students created their own lesson plans, resources and feedback sheets for small groups and instructed others on how to write specific forms of poetry or various new types of creative writing.

The sessions proved to be very popular and learners gave some great feedback to their peers.

Students remarked on how intense it can be to lead others.

The Year leaders will now include their leadership examples in their Portfolios for the forthcoming Arts Award Expo 3 event.
