Bogus charity collectors target address on Knowl Syke Street
Date published: 05 February 2016
Two men claiming to be collecting for a charity approached an address on Knowl Syke Street in Rochdale at around 8pm on Monday 1 February 2016.
They knocked on the door and spent several minutes speaking to the occupant before asking if they could enter his house.
He declined and they left, but the way they had tried to gain entry to the house raised the home owner’s suspicions and he called police.
The first offender is described as white, mid to late 20s, medium build, 5ft 8in tall, with a bald head. He was wearing a brown hat with ear flaps and a blue t-shirt.
The second offender is described as white, in his late teens, slim build, around 5ft 6in tall with dark hair and glasses. He was wearing a blue top and blue woollen gloves with white gripper palms.
Detective Constable Chris MacDonald said: “If someone knocks on your door and their behaviour raises suspicion, please call police.”
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
