Auction for Awareness Week

Date published: 07 June 2005

Springhill Hospice is holding its third auction of over 30 original paintings donated by local artists on Wednesday 15th June as part of the national Hospice Awareness Week campaign.

Local artists such as Sue Babbs, Berkeley Moir, Colin Reeves, Colin Fielding, Jean Hey and several members of Rochdale Artists will all have their work up for sale on the night. Viewing starts at 6.30pm, with the auction  - under the hammer of Sir Cyril Smith as guest auctioneer - commencing at 7.30pm.

Ian Jenkins, Fundraising Manager at the Hospice, said: "We've held two previous 'Canvassing Support' art auctions over the last couple of years that have raised several thousands of pounds for the Hospice, and when renowned local painter Jack Hammill offered to collect some works for us for another one, I couldn't refuse! Jack is very kindly donating some of his paintings as well, so there should be some highly collectable items up for grabs. The money we raise will be put towards the Hospice's Refurbishment Appeal"

'Canvassing Support - part 3!' takes place in the Springhill Suite at the Hospice on Broad Lane, Rochdale and tickets - which include a free glass of wine or fruit juice - can be obtained for just £2.50 per person from Springhill Hospice Fundraising Office, 427 Oldham Road, Rochdale or by calling 017106 711144.
