Rochdale pupils put medical career under the microscope

Date published: 30 March 2016

Years 10 and 11 pupils from St Anne’s Academy in Middleton and Wardle Academy in Rochdale attended a day delivered by medical professionals which gave valuable insights into medical careers.

In teams of four, the pupils were guided through hand-on lessons in ethics, anatomy and CPR. This gave them access to a whole host of experience from industry professionals, and will help them in future career decisions.

Medics advised students on topics from career progression to tough situations they could face in the field.

Alexis Davies-Kenny, Careers Advisor from Wardle Academy in Rochdale, said: “It’s been an eye-opener for the students. It has helped them realise the hard work and determination needed to turn a dream into a reality.”

The day concluded with students acting out real-life challenges and scenarios they could face day-to-day should they pursue this career path.

The event was organised by MCS Projects Ltd and hosted at the Bury Town Centre campus.
