Castleton residents call for action after sinkhole surprise

Sinkhole on Knoll Street, Castleton
Residents in Castleton are calling for urgent action after a small sinkhole opened up on a road on Wednesday night (3 May).
The area has been cordoned off and signs put up on Knoll Street, close to the junction with Nixon Street, where many drivers take a shortcut through the village before turning onto Manchester Road.
Carl Rigg, a resident of Knoll Street, said: “They’ve cordoned it all off but that is hardly fixing the problem. I wonder how long we’ll have to wait before someone comes.”
Rochdale Borough Council has been contacted for comment.
