Milnrow charity quiz night raises funds for defibrillator box

Date published: 07 June 2016

The quiz night held to raise money to pay for a box to host Milnrow's new defibrillator raised £320.

Milnrow caught quiz fever at Milnrow Worker's Club as some of Rochdale's finest quizzers headed there to pit their wits and raise much needed money.

Councillor Andy Kelly has led the campaign for a new defibrillator based at the club after the death of a customer.

The box can be sited on Dale Street to benefit the whole community. The Public Health and Well Being Team at the Council have paid for the defibrillator.

Councillor Kelly said: "I am so pleased that our quiz was such a success. We managed to raise £320. It was great to see so much support from local people at the event, as well as some strong quizzing talent from the region.

“We had a 15-1 finalist along with some quiz league regulars. A couple of the competitors even delayed travelling to the world quizzing championships the day after to compete in Milnrow. I plan to make this an annual event.

"I would like to say a big thank you to the Workers club who gave the room and staff for free."

The winners of the quiz were called 'Six go mad in Milnrow'.

Defib training sessions will be available for all the community over the summer.
