Your family recipes are needed for a special 'fundraiser' cookbook

Date published: 08 June 2016

Councillor Carol Wardle is appealing for your old-time family dishes so she can rustle up a unique cookbook to raise money for charity.

The 'fundraiser recipe book' will consist of unique and original dishes, including family favourites and new creative ideas which can’t be compared to standard published recipes.

Your creative ideas could make it into the book and help raise funds for the Mayor’s charities, including the Lee Rigby Foundation, Moorland Home and Springhill Hospice.

Councillor Wardle, who is on the Mayor’s charity committee, said: “I wanted to try to revive old family favourites which were tasty and economical. In the borough a lot of people are struggling to make ends meet and relying on food banks. This book will give easy to follow recipes made from scratch which will be far healthier than take away food and will be nourishing and tasty.”

She added: “I wanted to do this to help improve the health of residents whilst raising money for charity. The Mayor was very supportive of me during my Mayoral year, and I know how hard it can be to raise money, so I thought this would appeal to a lot of people without breaking the bank.”

To submit your recipes, you can email Councillor Wardle at carolwardle1@gmail.com or hand them in personally at the Town Hall reception desk.

The categories are:

  • Soups and starters
  • Light bites
  • Main meals
  • Desserts, cakes and pastries
