Littleborough gears up for culinary delights

Date published: 09 June 2016

Littleborough is gearing up for the second Littleborough Food and Drink Festival which takes place on Saturday from 11am til 4pm.

Following a successful debut last year, the festival promises to be even bigger and better this year with more food stalls, more food tasters and cookery demonstrations from Littleborough chefs.

A range of food stalls will be in the Square serving up grilled cheese, venison burgers, gourmet hotdogs, curries, pasta and more. There will also be tables and chairs so visitors can take a seat and enjoy their food.

Hare Hill Road will be closed from Sublime Eco-Salon up to Sainsbury's and will have more stalls serving up sweet treats including fudge, toffee, donuts, cheesecake and more.

The professional demonstration kitchen will be located here so Graham Sherwin from the Green Door, Andy McKay from the Little Deli and Marc Rothwell from The White House can demonstrate their culinary prowess.

The shops around Littleborough will be playing host to range of food providers, including Cocka Doodle Moo, Badger Cider, Pextenement Cheese Co, Barker Baker and more.

Entertainment is being provided by Wardle Junior Blast as well as the Jaeger Maestros and 409 Littleborough will have a number of live acts throughout the day. There will also be free face painting and free glitter tattoos.

The event is organised by Simon France from Littleborough Events & Associations Forum (LEAF), LEAF member and local business owner Neela Jackson and local business owners, Joanne Matthews, Clare Aspinall, Mark Jones, Julie Pimlott and Andy McKay.

LEAF Secretary Simon France said: "Last year's trial run surprised us all with the sheer number of people who came out to support it and people were talking about it for weeks afterwards. This year, with tremendous support from the Council, we have managed to turn it into a full-blown event."
