Danczuk mercilessly ridiculed and lampooned

Date published: 26 June 2016

Rochdale MP Simon Danczuk, currently suspended from the Labour Party, has been mercilessly ridiculed and lampooned on social media for tweeting that he has "phoned Jeremy [Corbyn] & said if required, I'm prepared to serve. I am prepared to make that sacrifice for the Labour Party."

A small number of the hundreds of (publishable) responses include:

  • Wow, that's great, but we're holding out for Farage jumping ship or Trump immigrating. But you're next - after Tony of course.
    Kevin Armes ‏@KevinArmes

  • I've phoned @SimonDanczuk and if required, I'm prepared to be his next wife. I am prepared to make that sacrifice for Twitter RTs!

  • Corbyn would be better off with Paul Gascoigne, fishing rod, four pack and a bucket of KFC.
    Neil Wilby @Neil_Wilby

  • Someone's had a boozy lunch.
    Kate Donovan @drkatedonovan

  • Serve what, the beer and sandwiches!
    Dennis Hammond @DennisHammond

  • Comedy gold.
    David Algie @algwars

  • @SimonDanczuk Have they just hired a glut of teenage interns or something?

  • The new @SimonDanczuk toilet has already had to be temporarily closed, due to human **** pouring out of it in large quantities.

As well as being suspended from the Labour party for sending sex messages to a 17-year-old girl, Mr Danczuk's expense claims are the subject of a Metropolitan Police investigation and he remains under investigation by police over an accusation of rape, which he denies.
