Emma Radcliffe presents school with umbrella stand

Date published: 20 July 2016

Local mum Emma Radcliffe has met her children every day from school with an umbrella for the last 21 years - come rain or shine.

On Tuesday she collected her youngest daughter from the school playground for the last time.

To celebrate this dedication, Ms Radcliffe arranged for an umbrella stand to be specially made for St Michael’s Primary School, which all of her children have attended.

The stand was presented to the school as a surprise gift.

The stand has been created by a Design and Technology teacher and holds several umbrellas in the school colours of red and white.

If any parents doing the school run find themselves in the rain without an umbrella, they will now be able to ‘borrow a brolly’ from the school instead of getting wet.

Eldest daughter Amie Gallagher, 25, said: “Mum is my absolute inspiration and she has always worked tirelessly to ensure my younger siblings and I have had the best education and support.

“I can’t begin to thank her enough.”
