Birds of a Feather needs funds to relocate
Date published: 27 July 2016
Birds of a Feather Animal Rescue in Norden urgently needs £3,000 for a relocation by their first anniversary on 16 August.
The charity has had a number of issues at its current site including the theft of two lambs, which were recovered.
Proposals for a new site have since fallen through, leaving Robert Dobson, 19, and his 52 animals and birds with nowhere to go.
The funds will go towards rent costs and new buildings to house the animals, in addition to storage spaces for food and records.
Mr Dobson, from Newhey, said: “Ideally we need somewhere flat to build the sheds on.
“Something about one and a half to two acres with lots of vegetation would be a decent size for the animals and the buildings we require.”
If a suitable location is not found, Mr Dobson will be forced to find alternative homes or send the animals to alternative sanctuaries. He has been rescuing animals and birds for six years after helping an injured pigeon.
The charity currently rescues livestock, birds and small animals like rabbits and rodents. cats, dogs and horses are not able to be rescued due to lack of space.
Any animal that is not able to be returned to the wild will remain at Birds of a Feather for the rest of its life.
